Neil entered the foggy and icy floor with his spear. There are no special skills to be had here, neither for him, nor for his opponent. ‘ Shoong ‘ A white indistinct shadow whipped by him in the fog. Instead of running forward to meet the opponent, Neil has taken the simplest spear wielding stance. He stood sideways, his spear facing outwards, the tip ready to penetrate anything and anyone at the slightest notice. Then, he moved his front feet forward in a straight step by four inches, the back foot followed four inches. It was quite wise of him to have done so. For the moment he reached the fourth step, there was a shadow flying at him from his right. Neil swirled on the balls of his backfoot, placed his front foot firmly on the ground. The entire motion happened in microseconds. Neil stabbed forward with his spear. The spear met something soft. But the being jumped over Neil’s head, leaving nothing but a whirl of snow. ‘ Stick to the basics ‘ Neil told himself. This figh
Neil was greedy for this divine crystal. After all, even with his limited knowledge, he could tell absorbing it would remove the shackles on his body. They absolutely needed this power now. However, he knew how much he missed his parents. That he burned all their pictures in a pique has been his greatest regret to this day. He could not take someone else’s father’s remnant that easily. He just could not wish that sort of emotional torture upon any one, not even his enemies. Thus, he asked once again. “ Orion ! This is your father’s last relic. Are you sure you do not want this ? “ Neil asked. Orion nodded his head confidently. “ I am my father’s last relic and most beloved memory. The Drow’s continuous survival is his last legacy. Stones and bones are not what makes an elf ! “ Orion explained in as simple words as possible to Neil. The words came as a shock to Neil. Yes, he was his parents' most beloved memory. Why did he forget that ? or … why was he never able to accept it
Despite their initial success at catching a lantern fish, it was clear the group effort was going to be hard. First, the elves are a loose army, after all, just months, they were villagers living in seclusion. They have little to no discipline. For the smallest amount of action in this lantern fish hunt, they need to step out of their hiding spots at the same time, press the button on lantern fish and retreat. On top of that, that pressure can’t be too much, otherwise the lantern fish explode like pressure sensitive bombs. The cocoon does have many places to hide, but first, they have to construct the alcoves to hide the elves and prisms to refract the light. It’s best if they could do something similar to laying a net on ground to catch pigeons. The crux of lantern fish is that one attack by them could break opponents formation, one successful attack by them could demoralize the entire army. Neil, unfortunately, does not have the skills to build something on such a grand scale
Adele watched the history of lantern fish to the end. In the beginning, they were nothing but some luminous bacteria which reacted to mana. Others were sensory bacteria which reacted to the light. Yet others were plain planimals which had the strongest muscle memory. One fine day, a Mercity mermaid, and an avian came to their homes. They robbed them, after wards, put them in DNA of an mantaray. They were a bit hurt, but living in and on mantaray was also good. The fish swam slowly. They got exposed to more light, they had more muscles and they had more information to exchange with each other. Then, the mantaray was cross bred with a strange jelly fish. The true lantern fish was born then. From then on, with robot aided surgeries, and the specially spawned bacterias, lantern fish were developed, till they were as varied as the colors in the universe, and as prevalent as water in the ocean. But, then, the camera technology was found out. The lantern fish have become the hottest
Neil and Adele looked at each other. Just like that, telepathy started once more. “ She’s not lying ! but she’s definitely not telling it all. “ Adele grumbled inside, while her poker face was maintained brilliantly. “ She’s trying to send us on a wild goose chase. Buying time ?! “ Neil suggested. “ Not quite. “ Adele mused. Neil stayed silent. “ She wants to hurt us politically. The Drows are the most isolated and taciturn race in the world. If not for their complete annihilation, I bet they wont even talk to us. Sure, they treat us well, and they do help out with Merlin and Mona, but you must have noticed it too. They just do not have the same enthusiasm for life that we do. “ Adele opined. “ it’s extremely easy to press an opponent to do something, but to make them keep doing it, it’s nigh impossible. “ Neil tossed in another idea. “ Logically speaking, we are without any tools needed to make any sort of investigations on the space starbeast. We have to give up our two spac
While Sasha winterchild inspected and tried to absorb the mana of the barrier by herself, Neil opened his eyes and greeted a slightly brighter morning. He remembered the words of Sage from yesterday morning. Yesterday night, he still felt off about those words as he fell asleep. Now, thinking about those words once again, he suddenly had a revelation. He was looking at the world from an entirely wrong perspective. He had always thought Endless Ocean is a mix of real world and a game world, but that was wrong. It had never been anything but a real world. Look at the way things are done. All the events in the so-called game must be physically prepared. All the research and manufacturing must be done by some real beings, called gnomes. If he hadn’t realized that things in his inventory were not organized as he meant, he never would have known about gnomes. There are no auto replenish deals like the game. Even if there were, they were always followed by a physical netwo
Nadia Talhart, grand witch of valhalla, finally found a smith who could forge a wand thats capable of channeling her immense water mana. Caspian Hart, one of the sorcerer smiths escaped land of volcanoes, and arrived at their tower awhile ago. Soon after, they met the child of fate, Xena winterchild. Nadia had never seen a person who does not cower in face of her magical oppression until Xena, the assassin princess, and Caspian, the sorcerer smith. Looking at them, she decided, the time has come, for the repairment of wand of aqua, that could call a tsunami if need be. “ I am a man of little skills, my lady. If ever there is anything I can do with my limited abilities, I would definitely do it for you. “ Caspian assured her. Nadia seemed to be waiting for these words. “ Those words are dangerous, Sir Hart. You are a sorcerer smith, are you not ? “ she asked him, just throwing an arrow into the dark. After all, Caspian bore the mark of apprentice smith, but not the mark of gradua
‘ An Oracle ‘ is the only word Adele heard before she felt a trace of anger overwhelm all her emotions. Adele kept her face devoid of any emotions, but inside, she was reeling. From the moment Sage has been separated from her, Adele has been feeling off. First, it was the dreams. She dreamt of a great white dragon, and a girl riding it, manipulating ice like Elsa. Only ,the girl was far more powerful than Elsa. She could raise a castle from the ground. She could level mountains and freeze the very sea. Then, there were knights. Knights like in medieval times, on campaigns of war. The dreams always ended as she tried to walk over to a tree with white bark and red leaves. She saw the slightest hint of a parchment and vellum, then she awoke. Adele is absolutely sure that parchment is significant. Rudy bore some resemblance to the girl in the dream. Does that mean the girl is real ? Adele stood stock still wondering the answer to that question. If that girl was real, then so
