Chapter 11, New friends.

The next day, the usual heavy downpour on city rose regressed, even though the sun didn’t exactly shine like other places but a light drizzle is still worth throwing a party over.

Elias and Angel were riding a carriage into the interior of the city, the city is divided into the interior, mostly for the wealthy, nobles and royals, and then there is the common region or the commoner region of the city, where the middle class and some higher class citizens live in, also the place Angel and Elias live, and finally the exterior, the most unstable place in city rose, mostly occupied by third class citizens of the city.

Elias has never been in the interior before, so he kept on admiring the beautiful view of the city till it reached the point Angel was worried for her reputation.

“You keep staring like that and everyone will know you’re a country pumpkin”, Angel said helplessly.

“But I am a country pumpkin”, Elias said while smiling warmly at Angel’s annoyed look.

While Elias kept on admiring the stunning views. Angel silently gazed at the endless stream of passerby’s, she seemed mesmerized while reminiscing of the old times with her crew and the precious moments they spent together to the point she inevitably started murmuring to herself.

“Everyone, I’m still trying, I promise”.

“What was that, did you say something?”. Elias questioned with a curios expression.

Angel turned to face Elias but she didn’t say anything, infact she still seemed outside minded, Angel’s silent stare made he’s face heat up till he couldn’t help but ask her.

“Arrr, Angel, is something on my face?”.

Elias has never seen Angel like this before, he smiled wearily while trying he’s hardest to hide how nervous he was on the inside.

“My son is really handsome, make sure you bring back a good daughter in-law for me, ok”.

Elias’s face stiffened, Angel’s smile as she asked for a daughter in-law was both beautiful and nerve racking.

Elias lifted he’s hands defensively and said while stammering. “I-I, a daughter in-law, that seems a little out of place don’t you think”.

“What, you’re not confident”. Angel said with a sly smirk.

“Well, it depends”. Elias said with an ambiguous smile, at the moment the image of a silver haired beauty flashed in he’s head.

Angel smiled knowingly before signalling the carriage driver to stop.

“Why did we stop?”. A puzzled Elias asked.

“Get off”. Angel said without an explanation.

“Ohm”.

Moments later the carriage drove away with Elias left standing by the roadside with a ‘What the fuck’ expression on he’s face.

Elias glanced at the folder Angel gave to him, he was supposed to present that at the academy but he didn’t think he would be doing it alone.

Elias felt like a child that had been abandoned, while the other kids had their parents do everything for them, he’s been left to fend for himself.

But staying stagnant was never he’s thing to begin with, Elias followed the crowd as he took he’s time admiring the magnificent interior of city rose till the sun passed it’s peak.

At this point Elias was a little hungry, but it seemed like he wondered to a slightly secluded district, the amount of people walking by dropped considerably and the only things in view seemed to be mega buildings clearly meant for big shots of the empire.

“Where the fuck are my now, Angel won’t let me hear the end of this if I miss the entrance test”. Elias said with a worried look.

Suddenly Elias crashed into a figure causing them to fall to the ground, Elias glanced down at the person that he accidentally walked into, the person is a she, the girl seemed to be around Elias’s age, dark oily skinned with short braids decorated with golden locks, the girl was beautiful and dressed in a strange attire with a white scarf covering half her lower face, the girl was clearly not from the empire.

“Are you alright?”.

Elias asked as he helped her to her feet’s.

“Yeah, thank you friend”.

“Kuluwa, wait up”. A boy the same age as them called out while running over.

Eventually the boy made it while panting and taking short breaths.

“Don’t just run off and leave me behind like that, I almost got lost again”.

Kuluwa nervously squeezed the bottom of her white scarf and said. “No Geoffrey, I think I was the one that was lost this time around, but this friend found me”.

Geoffrey finally looked over at the awkward Elias, he beamed and shook Elias’s hand and thanked him.

“Thank you Mr”.

Elias immediately felt like throwing up, he didn’t think they’ll be a day someone from the same age group as him will ever call him Mr.

“Are you alright sir”. Geoffrey obliviously asked seeing the peculiar expression on Elias’s face.

“My name is Elias”. Finally Elias succeeded in forcing out a sentence without also throwing a punch.

“And my name is Geoffrey, my friends name is Kuluwa”. Geoffrey also introduced himself and the lady.

Elias sighed inwardly in relief as Geoffrey finally stopped the atrocious mode of address, of course Geoffrey is just a naturally polite person and Elias has realised that but it still annoyed him.

“Are you going to the academy as well”. Kuluwa asked with a soft voice.

Elias glanced down at the documents and replied. “yes, I got myself lost and now here I am”.

Kuluwa smiled lightly, “same with us, why don’t we search together to avoid getting lost again”.

“Yeah, let’s”.

For some reason Elias felt warm and relaxed around Kuluwa, it’s possible that was the natural aura surrounding her or it could be how he felt personally, but either way staying together was the best option at the moment.

And just like that the trio went ahead and started asking the nearby passerby’s for directions to the Empires military academy for mages.
