Meaning of despair

Nancy’s heart jumped. Regret, horror, and indescribable fear chewed her whole. Just when she was sure she would splatter against the concrete floor, turning into meat paste without even a complete corpse, a miracle happened.

A leg casually caught her, making her hang off it mid air. Nancy froze, then gasped, wondering why her fall got bridged.

Her mid section was on a dainty outstretched leg. Her current position was undignified, most importantly, she couldn't understand how a casually outstretched leg could balance her weight.

It didn't matter, all that did was that a savior had arrived. She gasped and grabbed the leg to balance herself, looking up to see her benefactor.

A scream of horror escaped her lips. It was that same ghostly face haunting her.

The ghost had a pair of childish pig tails, dressed in leather trenchcoat and trousers, with weapons strapped to her…a complete assassin's gear.

She grinned at Nancy and waved at her, batting her lashes. A scream escaped her lips and she began to fall again, this time face flat.

If she hit the ground in that position, her face would be squashed beyond recognition.

Half an inch away from the ground, someone's hand grabbed her from above, clutching her fabric tightly, drastically reducing the momentum.

Nancy was wailing at this point. Death wasn't what she feared the most, it was the way the mad ghost was playing with her mind, shattering all her mental and psychological defenses.

Right now, all she could see was fear, despair, horror and death. Despite all her efforts to think up something, only these emotions kept crashing into her brain, relentlessly.

“Aiya!” The playful, childish shout rang out again from above her, making screams of horror tumble out of Nancy's lips.

She began to cry bitterly. She felt a bone deep chill, and her blood seemed to have turned to ice. “Please just kill me, I beg you.”

Trinity giggled like a child, her voice ringing out like pearls. “Sister, how can you say that? I'm only playing with you because I like you too much.”

“Crazy! You're crazy! She's crazy!” Nancy's words tumbled out incoherently, her entire body spasming. She was about to go into shock.

The corner of Trinity's lips curled, the mad glint in her eyes became more pronounced, and she let go of Nancy who was already touching the ground.

Nancy rolled onto the ground, the concrete scratched her face, nose and arms. Blood soon soaked her clothes, tears couldn't stop streaming down, making the wounds sting the more.

“Don't worry. I won't let you die.” Trinity with the ghost face smiled. “It will feel like you want to die, and you can't hold on anymore, like tethering at the edge of hell…fear not, I will always pull you back.”

She giggled again. “How can I let you die? I want to play with you for a very long time.”

The ‘promise’ filled Nancy with fear, and she screamed out, losing her sanity. How could there be no single person to save her in this entire world?

Memories of Xavier always rushing to help her out in the past flashed before her, and she began to cry harder. If it was him, he would have definitely noticed her absence, and found her.

But now… now… he was probably dead.

The thought made Nancy cry harder, regret and pain tearing through her.

Trinity's eyes hardened and she pulled her up. Nancy gasped, her heart pounding erratically. Before she could understand what was happening, the scary ghost face threw her high up into the air, making screams erupt from her lips.

A hand grabbed her arm, and she felt air wheezing past them. She was thrown at a corner like a sack of potatoes, and she realized she was back on the roof.

Gbim! The sound of something gigantic landing a few meters away made her heart jump. Or rather, somersault. At this point, she was just exhausted and ready to faint. How could life be this hard?

“What have I done to deserve this?”

A hand grabbed her by her hair, completely loosening her already scattered French twist. She was thrown against the wall, making blood spew from her mouth.

Her organs were all rattled up, she could swear she broke something when she hit the wall.

She was picked off the floor and pushed to a drum full of dirty water. The ghostly existence pushed her head into the drum of water, laughing hysterically as she struggled bitterly, chunks of dirty water entering her mouth.

Just when she stopped struggling, Trinity pulled her head up, letting her up for air.

She gasped and wheezed, her chest tight, lungs desperate for oxygen. Before her breathing could normalize, Trinity pushed her head back, plunging her straight into the throes of despair.

The fleeting smirk Nancy saw on Trinity’s ghostly face when she was pulled up for air made her lose all hope.

The thing torturing her seemed totally unreasonable and unhinged. It was no longer a matter of if she would die, because she surely would. It was what the psycho holding her hostage would do to her before killing her.

Despair and agony warred inside of her, as her end became clearer before her.

Surely, this was the end. No hope in sight.

His screams resounded as he fell into the sea with a mighty splash. “Trash like you dared to hurt my master? They can't be changing their minds, right?” Nancy was incredibly worried as she stared intently at the computer screen, waiting for the confirmation email. Jason patted her shoulder. “Don't worry, they will reply. They were the first to reach out, why will they back out now?”Nancy wasn't convinced, for some reason dread filled her heart. She felt hollow, it was as if something huge and unfavorable was going to happen to her. “Zenith is a big group, and there are rumors it's connected to that mysterious Dominion consortium. Crescent Wave is a new company that just rose to fame. What if they decide to work with others?”“I have someone at Zenith, I will pull strings to get you the contact. The military Jeep was speeding across the highway. The siren and the presence of uniformed soldiers riding in open trucks meant that other drivers cleared off the road as they hurried towards the Ravencrest temporary base at Serene hills, Xavier's private estate. Trinity, the auburn haired woman dressed in black leather combat attire was holding Xavier's hand, tears dripping steadily down her face. It was truly a strange sight. The deadly Trinity who single handedly killed a hundred top assassins on her own at sixteen, who never showed weakness and struck without mercy, the legendary goddess that could call down storms at will, was crying. Xavier's face was pale, totally white and he lay lifeless inside his Rolls-Royce Phantom. The seats were adjusted into a makeshift bed for him, and Trinity knelt beside him, holding his hand. “Big brother, you can't leave me. Please stay strong, we're almost there.”Therion, Xavier's left lieutenant, one of the seven members of his Heavenly Man

Nancy felt her head spinning, the world around her turned blurry. Mocking words and whispers from the guests she had invited to show off permeated the room like poison. “What just happened now?”“What do you think? The people that just arrived to pick him up mentioned that she cheated on him. He must have discovered she cheated, so she wanted to kill him to hush it up.”“It must be with Jason Marlowe. I knew that bastard was up to no good, always hanging around someone else's wife like flies to rotten eggs.”“Damn! Women are vicious.”“She wasn't the one who pushed him. It seemed to be that man beside her.”“This is crazy. I can't believe she would do this after all he had done for her.” The heiress of a fashion line whispered to her friend, shaking her head. “I knew her since college, she was from an impoverished middle class family. But after she married him, he gave her his company and turned her life for the better. Who would have expected she would treat her savior like this?”

  • I will make you pay

Nancy frowned, staring at him. Didn't Xavier love her the most? At this point, he should have been trying to make Ethan choose him, not asking for divorce. His indifference made her angry, but she held it inside and left to bring the documents. She had been used to being treated like royalty before him. No man had pampered her the way he had, even after he lost his legs. Seeing him detached unexpectedly made her unhappy. She was the one made to kick him away, while he should be the one clinging onto her. Jason laughed the moment Nancy left. “How do you like this surprise, Mr. Genius CEO? No, you're no longer a CEO. You merged your company with Crescent waves, and resigned to take care of my son.”He laughed again, his lips curving disdainfully. “I have seen many simps, but none was quite stupid as you.”He leaned closer to him. “Nancy has never loved you, she's mine, had always been. The kidney you thought you gave her is in my belly, the son you raised is also mine. I bet you mu
