Chapter 1
When life came crashing down
“Nancy, I can't endure seeing you with him anymore, you have to find a way to kick out that useless nominal husband of yours. Every time I see you with him, it's like a dagger straight to my heart. I just want to kill him.”
Xavier Winthrop froze on hearing the voice. It was Jason Blackwell, his wife's childhood friend. He had just finished preparing dinner when he heard the door open, and wheeled himself to the sitting room to take a look. But before he could open the door, the vicious words drifted to his ears. “Jason, you have to be patient. You waited five years, a few more days is nothing. Hold on, alright?” He opened the door slightly, enough to get a faint glimpse of the duo. His wife Nancy was currently squatting between Jason's legs, caressing his face with a doting expression in her face. “Ethan is currently the largest shareholder of my company, Crescent Waves corporation. If I kick him out without a good back up plan, he might do something crazy to get back at me and ruin my hard work.” “What are you scared of?” Jason pulled her up, making her sit on his thighs. “He's already a useless cripple, what could he possibly do?” “Xavier is stubborn. Although he has given me custody of all his assets, I can't rule out the possibility that he could have powerful allies out there. Our good life has just begun, we can't mess it up.” Jason's face twisted into a mask of hatred, and he clenched his fists tightly. Nancy chuckled. “Don't be jealous. You know the only person I love is you. If not because I needed his kidney to save you, I wouldn't have gone close to him.” Xavier's hand instinctively moved to his belly, touching the scar left by the surgery. His heart felt cold, his eyes burned, and deep within him, something was cracking, slowly shattering. His hands shook, and he gripped the wheel chair, his lips trembling. Four years ago, his girlfriend suddenly fell sick after giving birth to their child. She was diagnosed with kidney failure, and he was found to be a match. Due to time constraints, he instantly agreed to offer one of his kidneys without further tests or verification. His mother in-law wouldn't stop blaming him, saying it was because he got her pregnant, which made her already weak body deteriorate. “It's all that incompetent doctor's fault.” Jason muttered. “If he had taken both kidneys and killed him that day, I wouldn't have had to endure these four years of grievance.” Another memory flashed before Xavier, worsening the ache in his chest. During the surgery, his subordinate keeping tabs on the operation had discovered that the doctor wanted to remove both kidneys and stopped him in time. He had assumed that the doctor had wanted to sell the other at the black market. Never had he suspected that his beloved wife, whom he gave everything for, was the one who instructed both his kidneys to be taken. He had loved her to the point of madness, and thought his feelings were reciprocated. Unexpectedly… “Look at the bright side, it was after the surgery he signed over his assets to me. If he had died that day, I wouldn't have known he had more money than what I knew, and Crescent Waves wouldn't be in existence. Every disappointment brings blessings.” The air around Xavier suddenly felt too thin and toxic to inhale, his throat began to burn, his heart pounding in his chest. His eyes felt hot for inexplicable reasons. It felt as if an invisible hand was choking him to death, making breathing a chore. Jason pulled her close, his lips crashing against hers. Xavier watched as she hungrily devoured Jason’s lips. The dull ache in his chest transformed to a raging storm, and his soul left his body. Tears rolled down his cheeks. He had never cried since he was ten. Yet, here he was at twenty-eight, unable to control his eyes from humiliating him. His hands were shaking, and he held them together on his lap, as if that would stop the agony wracking through him. “When are you leaving him? I can't stand it anymore.” Jason pulled away from her, breathless. “Give me a week to wrap things up.” Nancy replied, panting. “One week should be enough to transfer the assets before I bring up the divorce.” “Since you're so scared of him, why don't we just kill him? The poison we gave him already paralyzed his legs. He will die sooner or later. We might as well spare him the pain before the final phase sets in. In that way, you won't have to worry about anything.” Nancy looked hesitant, not saying anything. “You, are you getting soft hearted?” Jason's expression turned to that of dark resentment and he tried to push her away. She tightened her hold on him, not letting go. “My love, calm down. I just think that it hasn't gotten to the point of…” The rest of her words became muffled as he resumed their kiss. Each sucking sound felt like a slap to Xavier. The love he flaunted before the world and boasted about was nothing more than a big sham. “Suck my cock, I want to feel your tongue on me.” Xavier felt his blood turn to ice as he watched Nancy get down on her knees and unbuckle Jason's belt. Ever since they got married, Nancy had never for once agreed to use her mouth on him, deeming it beneath her. He didn't want to make things difficult for her, he never insisted. Nancy had always been the one calling the shots in their marriage. At first, the sex was once a week, soon it became once a month, and throughout this year, nothing. Her excuse was always that she was exhausted, or that Xavier needed to rest more to regain his health. Other times she wasn't in the mood or seeing her period. It turned out that it wasn't that she didn't like sex, nor was it that she hated using her mouth on a man, she simply didn't like him enough to. He had never been worthy before her. Unable to endure it anymore, he turned the wheelchair, leaving as silently as he came. The moment he shut the bedroom door, it felt as if the pain got amplified, like one whose heart was being burned with a scalding iron. He managed to get into the bed and pulled the duvet over his body. Memories of all the sacrifices he had made for Nancy and their son over the years played before him like a movie. Her bright smile that once lit up his day now felt like a mocking sneer. Their voices wouldn't go away from his head, echoing over and over. “She has humiliated me lots of times because of him, making me grovel even when I'm not wrong. The numerous times he set me up and acted like I was the one attacking him, she always took his side, reminding me that he once saved her life. Stupid me, how could I have missed all those signals?” He turned and tossed in the bed. His heart felt as if a thousand tons of lead was dumped in it, making him sick to his belly. After a while, he sat up and picked up his phone to dial a number. “Yes boss, the transfer documents for Zenith group have been prepared. It will be ready before the young master's birthday.” “There's no need. Destroy the documents and find ways to withdraw the assets I already transferred to her.” His cadence was hoarse, raw with pain. “Boss, did you quarrel with madam?” “She's no longer your madam, withdraw all the support to Crescent Waves. Also, apply for an expedited divorce. I want to be free from her within the shortest time possible.” He cut the call without waiting for a reply, drawing in ragged breaths. “Since you no longer want me, I, Xavier Winthrop, will not grovel for an affection that was never there. Rather than wait for you to kill me, I will leave on my own.” Xavier closed his eyes, but his mind kept playing cruel tricks on him, replaying memories that went like a dagger straight to his heart.Expand

At another part of ErindorTrinity stared down at the unconscious Jason, hatred and disgust consuming her. She grabbed him and teleported to the bay area. The cold wind against his face woke him up. The first thing he saw was the crashing of waves beneath him. “No! Oooh!”“Aiya!” Trinity sneered and let go of him. His screams resounded as he fell into the sea with a mighty splash. “Trash like you dared to hurt my master? I will have to remind you where the trash belongs.”The sea was ice cold, and water was rapidly filling Jason’s mouth. Despite being a good swimmer, his limbs remained immobile. It could be fear, it could also be because whoever grabbed him did something to him. Despair, confusion, fear, all formed a horrifying mix in his mind. Something blinked a few meters away from where he was struggling. His heart jumped. A mighty fish? Shark! Screams tumbled out of his lips. However, the sea water rushing into his mouth muffled the sound. A low trumpeting sound came from t

War God's Reckoning Meaning of despair
Nancy’s heart jumped. Regret, horror, and indescribable fear chewed her whole. Just when she was sure she would splatter against the concrete floor, turning into meat paste without even a complete corpse, a miracle happened. A leg casually caught her, making her hang off it mid air. Nancy froze, then gasped, wondering why her fall got bridged. Her mid section was on a dainty outstretched leg. Her current position was undignified, most importantly, she couldn't understand how a casually outstretched leg could balance her weight. It didn't matter, all that did was that a savior had arrived. She gasped and grabbed the leg to balance herself, looking up to see her benefactor. A scream of horror escaped her lips. It was that same ghostly face haunting her. The ghost had a pair of childish pig tails, dressed in leather trenchcoat and trousers, with weapons strapped to her…a complete assassin's gear. She grinned at Nancy and waved at her, batting her lashes. A scream escaped her lips a

Crescent Waves Corporation. “Zenith group hasn't replied till now. What could be wrong? They normally got back to us within twenty-four hours. They can't be changing their minds, right?” Nancy was incredibly worried as she stared intently at the computer screen, waiting for the confirmation email. Jason patted her shoulder. “Don't worry, they will reply. They were the first to reach out, why will they back out now?”Nancy wasn't convinced, for some reason dread filled her heart. She felt hollow, it was as if something huge and unfavorable was going to happen to her. “Zenith is a big group, and there are rumors it's connected to that mysterious Dominion consortium. Crescent Wave is a new company that just rose to fame. What if they decide to work with others?”“I have someone at Zenith, I will pull strings to get you the contact. Don't worry.” Jason pinched her cheek with a soft smile, and she looked up at him. “You're still the best.” He leaned down and took her lips in a consuming

War God's Reckoning Unleashing the kraken
The military Jeep was speeding across the highway. The siren and the presence of uniformed soldiers riding in open trucks meant that other drivers cleared off the road as they hurried towards the Ravencrest temporary base at Serene hills, Xavier's private estate. Trinity, the auburn haired woman dressed in black leather combat attire was holding Xavier's hand, tears dripping steadily down her face. It was truly a strange sight. The deadly Trinity who single handedly killed a hundred top assassins on her own at sixteen, who never showed weakness and struck without mercy, the legendary goddess that could call down storms at will, was crying. Xavier's face was pale, totally white and he lay lifeless inside his Rolls-Royce Phantom. The seats were adjusted into a makeshift bed for him, and Trinity knelt beside him, holding his hand. “Big brother, you can't leave me. Please stay strong, we're almost there.”Therion, Xavier's left lieutenant, one of the seven members of his Heavenly Man

War God's Reckoning Daydreaming
Nancy felt her head spinning, the world around her turned blurry. Mocking words and whispers from the guests she had invited to show off permeated the room like poison. “What just happened now?”“What do you think? The people that just arrived to pick him up mentioned that she cheated on him. He must have discovered she cheated, so she wanted to kill him to hush it up.”“It must be with Jason Marlowe. I knew that bastard was up to no good, always hanging around someone else's wife like flies to rotten eggs.”“Damn! Women are vicious.”“She wasn't the one who pushed him. It seemed to be that man beside her.”“This is crazy. I can't believe she would do this after all he had done for her.” The heiress of a fashion line whispered to her friend, shaking her head. “I knew her since college, she was from an impoverished middle class family. But after she married him, he gave her his company and turned her life for the better. Who would have expected she would treat her savior like this?”

War God's Reckoning I will make you pay
Nancy frowned, staring at him. Didn't Xavier love her the most? At this point, he should have been trying to make Ethan choose him, not asking for divorce. His indifference made her angry, but she held it inside and left to bring the documents. She had been used to being treated like royalty before him. No man had pampered her the way he had, even after he lost his legs. Seeing him detached unexpectedly made her unhappy. She was the one made to kick him away, while he should be the one clinging onto her. Jason laughed the moment Nancy left. “How do you like this surprise, Mr. Genius CEO? No, you're no longer a CEO. You merged your company with Crescent waves, and resigned to take care of my son.”He laughed again, his lips curving disdainfully. “I have seen many simps, but none was quite stupid as you.”He leaned closer to him. “Nancy has never loved you, she's mine, had always been. The kidney you thought you gave her is in my belly, the son you raised is also mine. I bet you mu
