Awakening With the Renegade System

"We told you not to interfere, didn't we?" a bald man dressed in a black suit asked as he pointed his revolver at a young man in his early twenties. "You always behave as if you're a hero when no one wants that. You always put others first when they don't even care about you."

The young man couldn't help but shudder in fear as he staggered backwards but he was already surrounded by three other men. Even if he wanted to escape there was no way he was going to do that.

"You should have minded your business and not interfere when I was trying to make out with Mirabel, Donald," the bald man's index finger gradually pressed against the trigger of his revolver. "Everyone knows that anyone who tries to mess with me ends up getting killed."

Donald became very afraid as his entire body became stiff. He knew the kind of dangerous situation he had gotten himself into and was very terrified. This was because the bald man in front of him was a very wealthy and affluential person. All his enemies were now dead, the police brushing everything off as if these people never existed. His name was Deucalion and he had so much power in the city, no one daring to stand against him.

"You see, Mirabel is a very beautiful lady and I get why you love her so much," Deucalion said with a sneer. "But because of her you got yourself into a very deep trouble. You stood up to her when I made a move on her and that's where you acted stupid."

Donald who had been silent all this while decided to speak up, clenching his fists, "I can't allow you do anything you want just because you're wealthy. Mirabel is my girlfriend and I can't allow her to come near someone as despicable as you are."

When Donald said this the other three men reached out their hands into their suits and brought out their revolvers, pointing them at him. They were prepared to kill him at any moment even if their boss didn't.

"Easy guys," Deucalion said with a smile. "There's no need to be so angry with him. Just like other simps in the world, he's very much clueless."

"I'm not afraid of dying, Deucalion," Donald said boldly. "I'll be very happy to die because I know what I'm doing is right."

Deucalion chuckled for some moments before asking, "Then do you know your girlfriend has being making out with me for some time now?"

When Donald heard this he couldn't help but narrow his eyes as he asked, "What are you talking about?"

Deucalion didn't say anything and instead nodded at one of his men. The man immediately took out his phone, turned it on and showed it to Donald. On it was a video playing, a video depicting Mirabel and Deucalion making out in a room.

"This...this..." Donald became instantly heartbroken as he fell on his knees. "This can't be true..."

"But it is true," Deucalion said. "You act like a hero, trying to protect your woman. But what you don't know is that she's being making out with me. She was even planning to dump you for me."

"Mirabel..." Donald clenched his fists more tightly as tears rolled down his eyes. "How could you do this to me?"

"Isn't this a little too late?" Deucalion scoffed. "You punched me in the face and now it's the time for payback."

Realizing that he had been fooled all his life and taken for granted, Donald decided that he couldn't just sit down and allow himself to be killed by Deucalion. He had to do something before Deucalion pulled the trigger. But he was a very slow because the moment he tried standing up, Deucalion pulled the trigger at him.

A loud gunshot rang out through the surrounding as Donald was shot in the chest, blood blooming out like flower petals. His entire vision darkened as an immense pain assaulted him. The only things he could hear were footsteps hurrying away and his heart beating very slowly.

So this is how my life ends...he thought within himself in bitterness. And to think I died for her...

Suddenly a blinding light filled his vision, causing him to regain his consciouness. He could no longer feel the pain in his chest and was very much surprised. This was because even if he was rushed to the hospital there was no way the wound would be treated on time.

He tried moving but couldn't and became more surprised when he realized that all he could see was whiteness. This made him to wonder what was happening and where he was.

He was still thinking about his precarious situation when a blue holographic screen suddenly appeared in front of him, a soft beep echoing within his ears.

Staring at the message on the holographic screen made him squint his eyes in wonderment. He began thinking he was dreaming and tried to slap himself but again, he couldn't move his body no matter how he tried. It was as if he didn't even have a body to begin with.

Accept, Donald immediately made a choice within his mind. He didn't know what was happening but his instinct told him to agree to become a player. Even if he didn't know whether this was a prank or not, he was willing to take the risk. After all, Deucalion just shot him because he had stood up for Mirabel who had been cheating on him all this time. He had to exert his revenge on them for what they had done to him.

Seeing the messages in front of him made Donald more skeptical about the whole thing. But before he could have second thoughts he blacked out.
