The Shepherds always pushed Noah to attend Concord Academy. It was because adoptive parents wouldn't get the allowances if at least one of the foster children didn't attend classes.
Noah covered his sister with two old blankets and put her to sleep. He left food and water beside her mattress before leaving. It was the final week of senior high school at Concord Academy. Noah had already planned his future after graduation. The young man aspired to secure a paid internship as a skilled worker at Providence Technologies, one of the world's leading conglomerates. Then he could rent an apartment and provide healthcare for Lia by himself. Right now, every day was agony, tolerating the horrible Shepherds and their abuses. Noah walked on the footpath with a canvas bag slung over his shoulder, daydreaming about his future. He reached the Academy's gate and pulled down his hood. The watchman looked at his ID card and scoffed. Area G's children had a G watermark on the ID. Noah entered the Academy and reached his classroom shortly. Students filed in, and he recognized a few faces. There was Cory Gilbert, the Class President. He was a jerk of the highest order—constantly demeaning others and praising himself. His father was the Chairman of Gilbert Enterprises, which boasted of managing a sub-project of Providence Technologies. Cory never stopped talking about how influential his father was. He even promised several beautiful classmates he would get them internships at Providence. Alice Harper entered with her entourage of girls. She was a blonde beauty, the campus belle—voluptuous, and most desirable. Her father was a prosperous businessman. Alice was Noah's crush since he joined the school. However, he never had the courage to ask her out. Even though the girl hung out with Cory, she was reported as single. Alice was also kind and polite to everyone. "Why don't you ask her out?" a voice asked from behind. Noah turned around to see another familiar face. Piper Lee was another foster child like him. Piper constantly tried to befriend the young man, but the latter was not interested. "Who? Me? Ask out Alice?" Noah replied with a nervous smirk. "Are you crazy? We're graduating this week." "Hence the need for urgency," Piper whispered with a wink. "If you don't propose to her soon, Cory will swoop in and steal her. Nobody wants that to happen." Noah sighed. Cory, Alice, and their retinue were from wealthy families. A poor foster child like him with no future wouldn't dare approach the class diva. His internal monologue was cut short as Mrs. Samantha Gosling, the Headmistress, entered the classroom. She immediately demanded silence. Samantha was a tall redhead in her early thirties and was known for regularly failing students. "Today, we have a representative from Providence as our guest," she declared. "Please gather in the auditorium after class for an important conference." The students let out a collective gasp as Samantha turned sharply and left the classroom. "Is Providence finally recruiting from Concord?" "The last time our alumni joined the company was a decade ago!” "Did they send a hotshot manager to speak to us?" Even those from the well-to-do families aspired to join Providence. It was one of the largest tech-business conglomerates in the world, worth a trillion dollars. Even if you joined as an intern, your future growth was limitless. Today was a splendid opportunity to suck up to the Providence representatives. *** The conference was to be held in the auditorium after lunch. Students gathered in the cafeteria for snacks and gossip. The Shepherds never gave Noah any pocket money, so he always skipped lunch. However, the Academy cafeteria had a stall with free lemonade for the janitors. The latter always offered him some. He drank a few glasses until he was full. "Hey, wastrel!" someone called from behind. "Leave something for the other homeless kids!" Noah turned around to see Cory Gilbert and his group eyeing him from a nearby table. They had delicious snacks and soda in front of them. Cory beckoned him to come over. Noah normally didn't speak to others, but he pulled up his hood tighter and walked up to the guy. Cory was the Class President. It was unwise to ignore him, or trouble would find you. At the elite round table were seated Cory James and Alice Harper. Also present were Dave Smith, the athletics champion, Katie Bell, the Math and Science Club President, and Ron Davidson, the martial arts champion. There were a few others from prominent families. "Settle an argument for us, wastrel," Cory began, sneering. "My name is Noah." "Whatever! My friend Dave here believes you are the poorest in the school. I told him that the old lady who cleans our toilets is actually the most stricken with poverty." Except for Alice, the entire group broke into laughter. "You versus Cleaner Lady," Dave said, sliding a plate of fries towards Noah. "Who is more miserable? Care to weigh in and share your expert opinion? We'll compensate you with leftovers…"Latest Chapter
69 Where is my Girlfriend?
Noah ran like the wind. There was only one thing on his mind. The love of his life, Eve. The nightmare about King Jorm taking her away haunted him all the time. What if the nightmare was a premonition for these events? What if another god class abducted her or, worse, killed her? Noah could not imagine where his mind would go if such a thing happened.Of course, he cared about other people, including his best friend, Piper, and his Trinity girls, Skylar and Alice. He also did not want Jack Chrysalis and Providence members to die. However, he'd be shattered if something were to happen to Eve.Noah passed by Bridge 2's exit but did not even pause to look into the passage. He soldiered on and, in a few minutes, reached Bridge 3. A small group of players was gathered there."Oh, thank God!" Noah said in relief. "You guys are alright! What happened?"Captain Edmund spoke up. "Crazy things happened, Lovelord. We encountered an entire army of dark elves. Along with them were a few overpowere
68 Holly the Angel Assistant
"Why did you advise me to take this bridge alone?" Noah asked Holly as soon as he was out of earshot of the others. Holly was one of the five rewards he received for reaching Level 100. She was an A.I. Angel Assistant linked to him through the Trinity Network. [ ANGEL ASSISTANT ]A ball of light blinked over Noah's head. It gradually turned into a creature and unfurled like a cocoon of light. Holly emerged smiling. She was a miniature human shape with translucent wings. She looked like a tiny fairy from high fantasy books, Tinkerbell, to be exact. "Hi, Noah! Thanks for summoning me. I shall help you in your journey to becoming a god!" Noah raised an eyebrow. "Eh, we'll get to that later," he replied. "Tell me why you asked me to come by myself on this bridge. Do you know which of the three leads to where?" Indeed, it was Holly who gave the suggestion. Since she was his Angel Assistant, only Noah could hear her when she was invisible. The Ace had blindly followed her on a whim. "I
67 Eve vs God
"Eve!" Alexa exclaimed. "Did Edmund get our call for help?""Where are the rest?" Piper asked, straining his eyes to see beyond the fog.Eve shook her head. "They have their own big fish to fry. The Commander is facing an army of dark elves, most likely led by another special class.""Oh," Skylar replied. "Then he should not have spared you. We could have handled this situation.""Oh really? The situation doesn't look handled."The girls giggled nervously. "Someone, give me a rundown."Blade spoke up. "What you see is a special class cavern demon called the Jokesmith. I think centuries of evolution have metamorphosed a mindless monster into a sentient god class. Its intelligence and raw power are off the charts, comparable to the Gandrgator King before evolution. Armors, shields, and magical attacks mean nothing to him in battle. Our last resort, the anti matter gun, barely gave him a burn. I don't know how we are going to fight this force of nature!"Eve nodded and tightened her gras

It had enormous eyes and a gnarled set of fangs that looked more like bristles than teeth. The creature stood straight like a human but had a hunch on its back which slightly tipped its torso forward. The Jokesmith’s uncanny face looked like it was grinning. It had no clothes on, but its skin was thick, striped in red and black. Blood and viscera dripped from around its humongous mouth. The entire look gave it the appearance of a nightmarish clown.“Do you like what you see?” the Jokesmith asked Piper. The cyborg’s teeth chattered, and he pissed his pants. The monster was exuding such a dark aura that everyone around him was terrified beyond imagination.Blade was more acquainted with horrifying monsters as compared to

Alexa walked briskly ahead of the others on the team. Her muscles were tense, and she spat every now and then in anger. Her fingers twitched, generating fire sparks."She looks like a ticking bomb. Shouldn't somebody go and talk to her?" Skylar suggested to the rest of the group."Let her be, kid." Blade offered, shaking his head. "I know her better than most. Alexa and I went to training together, you see? She was this popular, cheerful girl who fell in love with one of our batchmates, Dom Faust. They were like prom queen and king.""What does that have to do with her present mood?""You see… Alexa and Dom were posted to Goldibad after we graduated.""Oh? Were they teammates? Where is Dom now?"Blade sighed. "They ran a campaign against a hybrid space pirates gang called the MANEATERS. One of their double agents betrayed them. He had them walk into a trap laid by the pirates."Skylar raised her eyebrows. "What happened?""The entire squad was wip
64 Bow to the King
"They are called 'the nameless four' among our enemies," Argulus introduced his Generals. "They are undefeated in battle. You will find my generals more powerful than my entire army combined."The four warrior dark elves cackled to endorse their King's words. They walked gradually forward, producing swords that looked like bones."That's a tall claim! Hope your warriors can handle our attacks!" Titan fired back."Your fancy swords will falter in front of the spines of my ancestors," Argulus called out.[ Incoming ][ Species: Dark Elf ][ Dark Elf General: Level 50 ]"What do we do, Commander?" Titan asked Edmund nervously. Even though adrenaline made him act fearless, he was anxious about the level 50 monsters."What other choice do we have?" Edmund replied. "We have to protect Elektra until she is ready." "I am down with that, sir!"The Commander turned to Alice. "If any attacks from their side are aimed at Elektra, it's your job to deflect them.""Understood, sir!"She had already
