Chapter 1 - Unlocking The Infinite Wealth App

"Jake you incompetent goat! How dare you try to take advantage of me." A woman yelled inside her office loud enough for the people outside to hear, she covered her chest with her arms protectively.

"But madam...I didn't do anything..." Before the young man could explain, she picked up the porcelain tea cup on her table and threw it at his head making him bleed.

Blood trickled down Jake's face but he held in the pain, this woman was his superior at work.

"So Jake is actually a pervert, he tried to take advantage of Miss Kylie."

Kylie Harrison smiled deviously.

'It's your fault for refusing me when I offered you kindly.'

"Madam Kylie..." Jacob Watson was willing to defend himself. He had never done anything wrong to Kylie, instead she was the one making advances at him despite being a married man, he didn't expect she would go this far to frame him just because he turned her down.

"Shut up! You're not allowed to say a word, get out of here! You're fired"

Jake was dumbstruck. He didn't know how to react even as security rushed in to throw him out of the company he'd worked hard in for over two years.

Sighing, he picked himself up and went back home with dread filing his heart, immediately he entered the single room apartment he shared with his wife, he heard her familiar voice yell.

"Why are you back so early?"

"I got fired!"

"You got fired? Jake, you've always been so useless. How are we supposed to survive now that you no longer have a job? I regret marrying you, ever since we got married you've never given me anything nice. Other women have husbands that take care of them, but you're just so useless and now you don't even have a job anymore..."

Jake was used to Diana's nagging words, it happened everyday whenever he came back without buying her anything but what could he do? Half of his salary went to her family who were constantly demanding things from him and the other half went to Diana's personal expenses, but she would still nag him for a designer jewelry and bags he couldn't afford.

Their house as constantly leaking whenever it rained and ever since they got married Diana never let him touch her. It was always one excuse after another, she wasn't ready yet or she was on her monthly period. Jake patiently waited for her, he was certain that his wait would be fruitful.

He was fine with just being with her as long as she loved him, Jake has always remained loyal to her because he loved his wife. He didn't say a word as she kept nagging, he just silently walked into the room and kept his bag.

The bed was strangely ruffled as if someone had been tossing on it repeatedly. Jake's phone suddenly fell to the ground, when he bent down to pick it up he saw something under the bed.

When he pulled it out, it was a slimy used condom, a clear evidence of what had transpired on their unmade bed.

Diana had slept with someone else!

A pang of betrayal jolted into him as he turned to ask Diana.

"What is this?"

He expected remorse, or for her to break down crying and apologizing, in fact he expected her to deny it and he would gladly delude himself to believe her, but her face turned derisive as she sneered.

"So you finally found out, I've been thinking about how to tell you anyway."

His heart seemed to stop with a sharp pain.

"Tell me what?"

The next thing he knew she threw some papers at his face, the papers that starkly wrote the words Divorce.

Many people have told him about seeing his wife with another man but he blindly chose to trust her, he wouldn't believe outsiders over his beloved wife.

They'd been married for a year now, since when did she start cheating on him.

"We married too soon, I was too young and stupid. Look at me, I'm twenty two years old and still beautiful, why did I let myself marry a loser of a man who can't even take care of me? Barry has everything, he comes here to visit me all the time. He works at the same company as you but he earns fifty times more than you do, how can you even compare to such a man?"

Barry? The associate director of oak house. His own boss?

"I'll be thankful to you for one thing, if you hadn't introduced me to Barry when we got engaged, I wouldn't have gotten to know such a wonderful man."

So it started since then? Jake realized.

Diana had been his girlfriend since high school and they got married a year ago, he never did more than touching her hand because she requested him to wait for her till marriage, but even after that she never let him come an inch near her in bed, so it was all because she'd met Barry right after they got engaged. She'd been cheating on him ever since then?

Betrayal became a painful arrow cutting deep inside his heart he could only stare at his wife in disbelief.

"After everything I've done for you..." He muttered painfully.

"What the fuck have you done for her?" A man suddenly came out of their bathroom. "Now that you know, Diana and I don't have to sneak around anymore. A worthless piece of trash like you who barely earns enough to feed her doesn't deserve a beautiful woman like Diana, men like you should just go drown to death before thinking they can have a lovely woman. Ever since you introduced her to me, I knew I had to have her as mine."

Diana walked next to Barry and crossed arms with him. "Let's go my love, I don't want to stay in this rotten house anymore."

Rage filled Jake as he watched them about to leave, he angrily lunged at Barry and grabbed him but before he could throw a punch to his face the door had burst open and countless bodyguards rushed in.

"You dare to touch me? Beat him to death for me!" Barry yelled to his bodyguards who quickly began to beat Jake mercilessly.

Jake wanted to fight back, he could if he wanted to, but the betrayal cut so deep all he felt was internal pain in his heart that he wanted the physical pain to numb the agony from his wife's betrayal. He didn't move as they pummeled him to the ground, they didn't stop until he was lying on the floor bloodied looking half dead.

Barry spat down at him and took Diana's hand as they left.

Jake laid there, defeated, wallowing in physical pain and a torturous heartache. He could hear the sounds of rain beating the roof and leakages soon began to drop into the apartment.

'Yes, I was indeed a fool.' A tear slid down the side of his face.

He'd lost everything. His job, his wife... everything that ever mattered to him. He was an orphan who had no one in this world, that was why he'd been so attached to Diana despite the fact that she treated him badly.

This world never valued love, money and power were what earned respect and adoration.

'If only I was strong enough, if only I had enough power.'

Thunder struck in the sky and lightning flashed so bright Jake had to cover his eyes.

What was going on?

Was he about to die by being struck by lightning?

The flash was so bright that Jake felt like he was being sucked into an abyss but the light suddenly receded.

When Jake opened his eyes he saw the lightning sparking upon his phone lying on the floor.

Damn it! Even his phone had been destroyed by thunder, how was he going to afford buying another one?

Immediately this thought registered in his mind, the mobile phone on the floor turned itself on, it glinted strangely looking nothing like the old crusty phone he'd been using for four years now. It suddenly looked brand new, it even seemed to have changed into a golden color.

"What...? Is this really my phone?" Jake picked it up and inspected it. When he turned it on, everything inside the phone was still the same except for an app with a gold colored icon which he didn't remember installing.

"What is this?"

Immediately he tapped on the app, a notification flashed onto the phone screen.

"Congratulations on unlocking the infinite wealth app. Perform tasks and gain points to earn. Please accept the new user bonus."

"What bonus?" Jack had just finished speaking when his bank app flashed a notification as well.

-Ten thousand dollars received-

Jack looked at the numbers on the screen incredulously. He'd barely had ten dollars in his account before now the zeros seemed to have multiplied.

He just couldn't believe it.
