Tyler Welensky's Rise To Power

“I can finally get my wife the shoes she's always wanted.” Tyler whispered to himself hopefully as he got closer to the address on the package he was supposed to deliver. He didn't mind the discomfort from the sweat making his shirt wet, his muscles bulged on his back but all he could think about was the joy of feeling the fresh air outside instead of mopping floors as the janitor he originally was. And he was happy about being promoted. “You'll be promoted after making this delivery.” The voice of his boss came back to his head, making him smile as he stepped down from the motorcycle he was given specifically for the job.

He had been a janitor most of his life and ran delivery errands during his free time. Promotion meant everything to him, he was overjoyed because now he could buy the fancy stuff from top brands that his wife had been dreaming of since college, and she might at least say a few good things about him when she's with her friends, not just the mockery he was already getting used to.

“If I get her expensive stuff, she wouldn't call me a church rat in front of her friends anymore.” He said looking at the package he carried, he didn't know what was inside but he did know that once it was delivered, his rank would go higher, his earnings would also take a step up, and his fashion-crazy wife, Elena wouldn't look down on him anymore.

Finally, Tyler arrived at the address on the package he held, it was one of the most popular and luxurious hotels around, the quality of the structures around said it all. He walked to the door, took a deep sigh before knocking heavily to make sure someone could hear him despite the loud music that was being played inside, he could faintly hear the heavy beats from the sound system and wondered if anyone could notice his ding dong!

“Look here everybody, the church rat who can't afford just a pair of designer shoes for his own wife.” A young woman mocked after opening the door to the sight of Tyler, she was one of Elena’s rude friends and seemed to enjoy getting on Tyler's nerves every single time they met.

“I'm here to deliver this, can I get the payment?” Tyler ignored her negative words. He just wanted to be done with the order quickly and be out of there.

“I know you're here to deliver a package, isn't that the only thing you're good at? Or you're here to mop some floors, Mr Janitor?” She Laughed.

“Excuse me?” Tyler's forehead squeezed.

“You deliver packages all day, but you can't deliver designers to your wife and you can't deliver to her in bed too. Isn't that pathetic?” She laughed again then took a sip from the glass of wine she had in hand.

Tyler was hurt, but he kept his cool and waited patiently for the payment.

“Do you want to know what's inside this very box you have in your hand? Trust me you wanna know.” She teased him, but the young man maintained a professional approach. As Tyler tried to hand over the box to her, he mistakenly knocked the glass of wine out of her hand, spilling it on her white dress while the glass shattered from heating the floor.

“Oh my God! You stupid useless piece of shit!” She yelled and the music from inside was paused immediately. A few of her friends walked to the door to see what was happening. “I'm so sorry I didn't mean to do that.” Tyler said honestly.

“Sorry? You just spilled wine on my dress and all you can say is sorry? I know you're stupid but are you crazy now? Huh?”

“It's alright I'll pay for the dress!” Tyler said hoping to end the scene quickly since he didn't want any trouble.

“You will pay for this? Do you know how much this costs? Another lady said from behind. “You think your poor ass can afford a dress like this? You're a fool for thinking that.”

“I didn't mean to stain your friend's dress and I've already apologised for that. But it will be better if you watch your words.” Tyler said in the calmest way possible.

“Are you threatening me? Huh? You fool!” She stepped forward and threw her wine on Tyler's face.

“What!” Tyler felt degraded.

“Yeah that feels good doesn't it? At least you can lick your face and have a taste of some expensive wine.” The lady said as she searched something in her purse furiously. She brought out some dollar notes and threw them at Tyler who was cleaning his face with a handkerchief. “Right there, take the money, that's some compensation for your poor self and I know you need it weirdo.”

Tyler could feel his heart beating harder and faster, he was boiled but knew he had to hold in his anger. He had been humiliated many times by his wife and her friends, but he never got used to it, it hurt every single time.

“Can I just get my payment so I can leave now?” His voice went deeper and it cracked with the hurt in his chest.

“I ain't the one paying, I didn't order for it.” The arrogant woman with a stained dress said while chewing her gum carelessly.

“Who ordered it then?”

“Right there, go!” She said pointing to a door inside.

Tyler wasted no time and he headed straight for the door. He wanted to be done already so he could leave that den of arrogant people. As he approached the door he was directed to, Someone tripped him in the dark, causing him to fall and scatter the contents of the box on the ground. “Condoms!” He said to himself after seeing the content.

“Hey guys look who just fell his face on a pack of condoms, it's the church rat ha ha… “ Someone mocked and everyone bursted into laughter.

Tyler ignored them and stood up to pick the box of condoms, he walked to the door and knocked severally but no response.

“Anyone in there?” He asked about the hundredth time before he finally decided to push the door open.

“Oh my God!” Tyler was shocked at what he saw. “This can't be true!” His eyes went wide as he saw his wife Elena in a tight embrace with a man who kissed her passionately with their tongues playing with each other, touching every inch of her body as she unbuckled his belt quickly.

“What the hell?” Tyler asked with watery eyes.
