Chapter 1
Chapter 1
“I need a useful man.”
Those words flowed flatly from Rachel Corriere’s lips without hesitation. In her hand, a sheet of white paper was pushed across the glass table in the spacious living room. The man in front of her fell silent. He was Areskael. His hand, which had been holding a teacup, froze instantly. His gaze dropped to the bold letters at the top of the paper. Divorce Agreement. “What do you mean by this?” he finally asked. Rachel crossed her arms over her chest. Her beautiful face looked cold, without the slightest trace of guilt. “Don’t pretend to be stupid. Three years is more than enough for me to put up with a useless piece of trash.” “What do you mean?” the man asked quietly. “Rachel, can’t we talk about this properly?” “For what?” Rachel let out a small, mocking laugh. “For three years of marriage, what have you done, Ares?” She stood up, looking her husband up and down. “You wake up early, clean the house, cook, then sit around waiting for me to come home. That’s all. For the past three years, I’m the only one who’s been working day and night. And you?” “Yes, I know. I can only take care of the house while you’re busy working,” he replied calmly. “I’ve tried to find a job, but I always get rejected. Do you think I want to be unemployed? And why won’t you hire me at your company? Why do you always—” “Enough!” Rachel cut him off sharply. “The company forbids husband and wife from working in the same company!” Rachel said firmly. “And now I need a well-established husband, not a jobless husband like you. Three years is enough! Consider these three years as compensation for the fact that you once saved my life from death.” Ares clenched his fists on his lap, then slowly relaxed them again. “Rachel, calm down first,” he said patiently. “Let’s talk properly. I know your company is having problems. I can help.” Rachel snorted. “Help how?” “I’ll find a way. I—” “Tsk.” The sound came from the direction of the door. A middle-aged man entered with heavy steps. His expensive suit contrasted sharply with the contempt on his face. Mr. Charlie Corriere, Rachel’s father, stopped right in front of the table. He looked at Ares as if he were trash. “You?” Charlie spat on the floor in front of his feet. “Trash like you wants to help the Corriere company?” Ares lifted his head. His gaze remained calm. “Papa Charlie, I’m serious. Give me time. I’m sure I’ll get a job soon. Give me time.” “Time?” Charlie laughed harshly. “Our company needs massive investment, not empty promises from an unemployed man like you, Ares.” Rachel laughed along. “Papa is right. I’ve already given you three years. Now that’s enough!” “I’ll find a job. I’m sure I can—” “You already had three years,” Rachel cut in sharply. “And the result is zero.” Footsteps echoed from the stairs. A woman in her fifties came down with an equally cold expression. Mrs. Maryam Corriere glanced at the man briefly before moving closer to her daughter. “That’s enough, Rachel,” Maryam said. “There’s no need to drag this out. Just divorce this trash of a man.” The man took a deep breath. He could feel his chest growing warm, something inside him surging, but he held it back. Ares looked at Rachel, hoping the woman he loved would take back her words and not listen to her mother. Then Rachel looked at him for a moment before giving a cold smile. “I really was stupid! To think that three years ago I married a useless man like you. Huh, I thought you’d get a decent job, turns out I was wrong.” She pointed at the letter on the table. “Sign it. Now.” “Rachel,” he said softly. “Are you sure about this decision? Are you sure you won’t regret it?” That made Rachel burst into laughter. “Me? Regret leaving a useless man? Hahaha… Impossible.” Charlie chimed in, “Sign it quickly and get out of this house. Don’t disgust us.” Ares looked at each face in the room. Not a single one defended him. No one hesitated. Everything had already been decided before he was even given a chance to speak. “There’s only one thing I want you to remember,” he said, still trying to remain calm. “I never hurt you.” Rachel stepped closer, her face full of irritation. “Enough. I’m sick of hearing your nonsense.” She shoved his chest with her palm. “Sign it now.” Ares staggered a step back. His hand slowly reached for the pen on the table. His fingers trembled slightly as they touched the paper. “You know,” he said, looking at Rachel’s name printed on the document, “I truly intended to help you.” “Nonsense,” Rachel replied quickly. “After this, I’ll marry a rich man, a nobleman’s son. He has already agreed to help my company.” The room fell silent for a moment. Ares gave a small nod. “So that’s the reason.” “Yes,” Rachel answered shamelessly. “He’s useful. Unlike you.” Ares took a breath, then signed the paper with one firm stroke. After that, he crumpled the document in his hand. Rachel extended her hand. “Give it to me.” Ares threw the paper onto the table, right in front of Rachel. “Are you satisfied?” Rachel took it without hesitation. “Very satisfied, Ares.” Ares stood up. His posture was straight, his gaze steady. There was no longer any attempt to hold on. “Don’t regret it,” he said shortly. Charlie laughed mockingly. “Get out. Never come back.” The man walked toward the door. When his hand touched the handle, he paused for a moment, then turned around. “I hope this decision truly saves your company,” he said flatly. Just as Ares was about to open the door, Rachel suddenly grabbed his hand. “Wait, Ares!” Ares brushed Rachel’s hand away, then faced the woman who was now his ex-wife. “What else, Mrs. Rachel?”Expand

WAR GOD : Rise After Betrayal Chapter 60
Chapter 60Several months passed faster than Ares had imagined. That morning he stood in front of a building still filled with the sounds of drills and hammers. However, its shape was already clear. An eight-story company building with large glass panels at the front. A temporary logo had already been installed above the entrance.Ares stared at it for quite a while.“So it finally happened…” he murmured.A foreman approached while removing his helmet. “Mr. Ares, the main structure is finished. Only the interior and electrical installation remain. If there are no obstacles, it can be used in two months.”Ares nodded. “Good. Make sure everything follows the plan.”“Yes, sir.”Ares was still not used to that title.Mr. Ares.CEO.A few months ago, he was still standing behind Elara as a bodyguard. Now, he was standing in front of his own building. His phone rang. The name that appeared made him smile faintly.“Miss Elara.”He answered the call.“Ares, are you at the project?” Elara’s vo

WAR GOD : Rise After Betrayal Chapter 59
Chapter 59One in the morning.Ares woke up gasping for breath. His body was drenched in sweat, even though the air conditioner was running as usual. He sat upright on the bed, his hand immediately touching his chest, making sure his heart was still beating normally.“Why again…” he muttered softly. The dream had come again. Not just a vague shadow like before. This time it felt more real. Closer. As if he had truly been there. In his dream, he stood in the middle of a foreign battlefield. The ground was cracked, the sky red, the wind carrying the smell of iron and smoke. Around him echoed the clash of weapons, screams, and the footsteps of troops whose forms could not be seen. Then that figure appeared.Thick black fog formed into a towering shadow. Its face was unclear, only two sharp points of light staring straight at him.“Ares.”The voice was heavy. Deep. As if it came from inside his own head.“What do you want?” Ares asked in the dream, still standing upright.“You are startin

The elevator stopped on the executive floor with a soft sound. Ares stepped out without hesitation. His dark suit was neat, his face calm again as usual—cold and unreadable. In front of the main meeting room, Tom stood while checking his tablet.“You came too,” Tom muttered.“Miss Elara called me,” Ares replied briefly.Tom nodded. “Maxim is already inside.”Ares gave a slight nod, then opened the meeting room door. The room was spacious with a long polished table in the center. Several men in ties were already seated neatly, folders and tablets open in front of them. At the head of the table, Elara sat upright, her expression professional. On the right side, Maxim leaned back casually with a faint smile.Ares took his position slightly behind Elara’s chair, as usual.“Alright,” Elara’s voice opened the meeting, calm and measured. “Let’s begin. Please present the proposal.”One of the men in a gray tie stood up. “Thank you, Miss Elara. This project is an expansion of an integrated ind

The sound of engines and the clanging of metal echoed across the project site. Thin dust scattered, carried by the morning wind. Ares stood with a construction helmet on his head, his shirt sleeves rolled up to his elbows. In front of him, the frame of the apartment building was beginning to take shape. On the other side, the new housing area had been leveled, the foundations neatly poured.Only twenty percent.Still a long way to go.He stared at the building for quite a while.“From zero…” he muttered softly. One of the foremen approached. “Mr. Ares, for Block B, the materials have arrived. Just a final inspection before installation.”Ares nodded. “Good. Make sure the quality meets the specifications. Don’t let anything be reduced.”“Yes, sir.”Ares was still not used to being called that. Sir. It felt strange. A few months ago, he did not even have anything. Now, his first property project was already underway. He walked along the construction area. His shoes stepped on the still-

WAR GOD : Rise After Betrayal Chapter 56
Chapter 56Two days had passed.Ares sat on the corner chair in the living room of the Cole residence, his phone resting in his palm. The screen remained dark. No incoming messages. No missed calls. Nothing at all.He let out a long breath.“So slow…” he muttered. It had been two days since he contacted that person. Usually, even if it was expensive and complicated, there was always news—no matter how small. But this time, nothing. As if the information had sunk into an ocean he did not know.Ares leaned his head back against the chair. His jaw tightened.“This is what happens when you don’t have connections,” he said quietly, bitterly. “Everything feels painfully slow.”His hand clenched. There was irritation mixed with something deeper—a sense of inferiority he rarely admitted.“Why was I born like this…” he whispered. “Without a background. Without a name. Without anything.”He let out a small, hollow laugh. “A useless man.”The words tasted bitter on his own tongue.Footsteps echo

WAR GOD : Rise After Betrayal Chapter 55
A week had passed since the banquet. The morning felt quieter than usual at the Cole residence. Ares stood in front of the living room television, still dressed in all-black casual clothes. His arms were crossed over his chest, his jaw clenched. The television screen showed a large-scale press conference. There, Rachel sat gracefully in a pastel dress, her face wearing a gentle smile. Beside her, Maxim stood tall, full of confidence. A baby boy was being carried by a nurse, wrapped in a white blanket bearing the Wilson family logo.“With this, we introduce our son,” Maxim’s voice rang out clearly, “Xavier Wilson. The legitimate heir of the Wilson family.”Cameras flashed. Applause echoed.Ares looked away for a moment, then returned his gaze to the screen. His eyes darkened.“Heir…” he murmured softly.Rachel smiled toward the camera, her hand briefly touching the baby’s cheek, merely a formality. Ares observed her movement carefully. There was no warmth there. No vibration that shoul
