Chapter 1: Betrayal

After I became the guardian of this world.

My world.

I fought as a true Hero not for glory, not for a throne, but to protect. I bled, I killed, I sacrificed, all for the people who later stabbed me.

Even though I refused the god - given throne, the power and dominion that came with it. Just because it could make those I called my comrade.

Those of my world

Subjected to my will

Now? They've brought me this.

"Ngwan Le—today is the day you dieee!"

The voice thundered from above. A figure hovered in the sky, looking down on me not like prey, not like an insect—something worse. Disposable.

An extraterrestrial mercenary. Contracted by my very own people, now here demanding my life.

I didn't flinch. Instead, I raised a hand and pointed at him, a grin curling across my face.

"Hahahahahaha!" My laugh tore through the silence. "With your skills, you alone aren't worthy to make me kneel—let alone kill me."

The crowd gasped. He scowled.

"Make you kneel? I don't care for that," he snapped. "But kill you? No matter the cost, I—Mei Li—will see it through."

He looked determined — too determined for a simple contract killer.

"Ah… fame," I said coldly. "That's what this is. You think my death will make your name ring across the stars?"

He spread his arms wide and laughed, the sound ugly. "Hahahaha! Exactly!"

Pathetic. Fame? He should know better. With his skills, even ten of him couldn't touch me and only death a waits him at the end . But something about this stank—Mei Li shouldn't even know where this world was. Which meant someone had given it away.

Someone close.

Something was going on, and It will be revealed sooner or later.

"Oh then it's settled….. What a twisted guy," I said. Lips pursed, drooping eyelids

With a strained expression.

He yelled "Me twisted? What is this even about?! Ngwan Leee I won't bear this offence!"

Who could have known he was this kind of a quick-tempered guy. And that all what was needed to put him in this state was just these provocating none sense words of mine.

He was indeed a twisted guy.

I mocked at him saying "What I'm implying is that you lack some guts."

How can someone demanding my life stay away from me as far as he his, without even releasing murderous intent.

There was indeed no maliciousness coming from him, but being surrounded by over a billion people was overwhelming; it was the first time I'd ever been in a crowd that large. Still, I made sure not to let my discomfort show

Then after completly regaining my composure a string of memory came to me before I remembered who this extraterrestrial being, Mei Li was.

A subordinates of a throne god called Behl.

Knowing his level of authority, there was no way he would have been able to find my world coordinates, not to mention coming in contact with these bastards.

...

Was he perhaps send by _

After I looked around with squinting eyes, an interesting idea came to mind.

"Mei Li!" I roared, eyes narrowing. "Bring your ass down here and stop floating like a coward. Do you think I don't know what's happening right now?"

Of course, I know jack shit.

His eyes widened. His confidence cracked.

Then he thought, could Ngwan Le have seen through our plan? Then why is he still here, is there perhaps a card he hold; capable of turning our through out plan completly into failure _ Not that it matters, with all these people gathered here, after I kill him, no matter the means used, I will become famous.

"I've prepared a gift," he said finally, forcing composure, lips curling into a grin.

"A gift?" I scoffed, scratching my chin. "From you? Don't make me laugh. Arrogant bastard, and on which basis can you boldly proclaim to be able to give me a gift. Whether it's a gift or a present, you will need to have the means to make me take it." I shouted at him teeth bared in a menacing grin.

This extraterrestrial being is too arrogant; he should know that giving me a worthy gift is akin to defeating me, but up until now, nobody has been able to bring me such a gift. I thought

Then a rumble rolled across the sky. The weather shifted; darkness knifed through the light. Thunder at a divine level materialized, and from no where wind shrieked into being and carved a path through the crowd, converging on a small, bowl-sized energy orb after turning the surrounding area into a death land.

I yawned, unconcerned. This violent wind was one of the Seven Catastrophes — divine-grade chaos. The orb grew; Mei Li watched me with an impish smirk.

"What do you think, Ngwan Le? The gift is about to bloom."

I dropped my head back, hand on my forehead. "Even if given a millennium, it won't be worthy enough to withstand my grip."

He blinked, speechless for a beat. Then: "You know what that is?"

"This is the Will of End," I said. "The essence of destruction. Powerful enough to erase beings — existing and unmade."

Mei Li's eyes narrowed. He blinked, puzzled. He didn't understand me? Odd. If he knew the risk, why stay so calm? Maybe his countermeasures could ruin their plan. Perhaps absolute power makes all schemes meaningless.

Again thunder roared. Flames spiraled into the orb—white, red, blue, yellow, violet, black—each flame wrapping around it like chains as it grew in size. The ground trembled. The air burned.

Mei Li spread his hands, trembling with joy. "This, Ngwan Le, is the formation of a life expectancy orb!"

I chuckled. "You're too stupid, the life expentancy. That orb is powered by the will of destruction. It will devour any life force. Yours. And this planet's own. Yet I won't be affected."

He faltered. "It… it won't affect you?"

"Yes. Didn't I tell you? That this gift of yours won't be powerfull enough to withstand my grab."

As we spoke, the energy orb grew in size again and again at a second look, and the flames wrapping around it like chains matured into spiritual flames. As it grew in size.

 Swoosh!

Of course, I was impressed by the beauty of the scene, as I looked with a piercing eye, clapping my hands and laughing loudly.

His face twisted with rage. "Even if it cripples this world— even if half my life force is drained—today your era must ends! _

And with time all this can be recovered through cultivation."

"With time you say…." I question him as looked at the ground while scratching my head.

With rage as he shouted, His face contorted, cheeks flushed crimson "You… you, we shall see who will laugh at the end, now prepare to die."

And before I could know the ground beneath me lit up. A formation bloomed outward, stretching for thousands of kilometers. Over a billion people stood trapped within its pattern, their bodies trembling, their souls shackled to the sacrifice.

I laughed. "So this is the plan. A mass sacrifice. You really think draining a billion lives will make that orb strong enough to stop me?"

He sneered. "You talk big. But tell me, is your hand even large enough to hold this power?"

"Misconception is a serious problem," I said. "And someone twisted like you always thinks others are the crazy ones. Perhaps you wanted to see what I had up my sleeve — or the secret weapon I carry."

"A secret weapon, it that why he still stood here even though he knew what is going _ what kind of power a weapon weilded by Ngwan Le could measure up to."

Then as the orb completed its evolution, thunder, wind and flame compressed, turning it completely into a life-expectancy orb. Though this one was only one-twelfth of the legendary sphere that could span the Twelve Realms, it was still massive for a single world — coated in psychic power and at its core resided the Will of End. Flames spiraled: white, red, blue, yellow, violet, then black.

The aura emanating was so powerfull that if Mei Li and his other accomplices, the one standing with him out of the firmation. Weren't sheilded by a strange power, could have die just from being exposed

Mei Li's grin stretched wide as he lifted his arms. His voice thundered with the weight of finality, "Ngwan Le — surprise! Let me see your so-called grip." He stretches his hands more veins glowing with power and called out as he rose up in the sky, "Life Expectancy Orb—Darkness Swallowing Life!"

The orb answered him, roaring with appetite as it dived toward me like a burning sun.

The world shuddered. And I?

I clenched my fist tighter and smiled.
