Chapter 1: Humiliated

Chapter 1:

"Old Master, is it really appropriate for you to play tricks on the Young Master, to manipulate him into bankruptcy, turning him from a rich Scion to a poor person? Wouldn't he hold deeper grudge on you if he ever finds out?"

"Hmph, what's the fun in it if I don't? It's just bankruptcy, which I can easily triple back their whole family net worth if I want. I want to see these kids fight their way up without any support, to determine who has the will to take over and be the heir of this great family."

"What if Young Master is bullied out there since he isn't used to such a life?"

"Don't worry. That's why Mr. Feng is with him. He will definitely help him at the critical moment."

Bang!

Inside a busy supermarket aisle, a metal cart rattled as goods tumbled to the ground with a sharp clatter.

"You want to kill me, don’t you? You blind idiot! Can't you see where you're going?!" A sharp voice echoed, loud enough to draw heads. "You can't even walk in a straight line! What else can’t you do?! Just go and drop dead somewhere already!"

Standing over the mess, an arrogant middle-aged woman pointed accusingly at a stunned young man.

"Mom in-law, I didn’t see the cart. I was rushing to get the groceries you listed. It just… happened. The cart rolled right into the corner—"

"Shut up! You walked straight into it like a brainless cow you always were! Why don’t you say you tripped on air while you're at it? And now look, you’ve ruined someone else’s job and possibly groceries too!"

The woman, Linda Su, stood fuming in her red designer coat, arms crossed, voice rising. Nearby shoppers pretended not to hear.

"I'm sorry, ma'am, it's okay…" the young female employee mumbled, kneeling to pick up the scattered goods.

She was pushing a cart loaded with neatly stacked items—dozens of imported wine bottles, fruit baskets, and boxes clearly marked “Paid – VIP Order.”

Alfred Lucas crouched quickly to help. "I really didn’t see it. I swear it wasn't intentional."

Linda scoffed. “Don’t help her! You’ve done enough damage for a lifetime already. Go wait at the end of the checkout and don’t breathe unless someone tells you to and I swear to God if anything is broken in there and the owner asked for you to pay it, I will rather watch you get jailed!”

The cashier at the far end raised a brow hearing those words while the young employee kept picking up items silently pretending not to care for those conversations.

Alfred clenched his jaw, resisting the urge to speak further as he felt a pang of humiliation with people subtly looking at him. His hand gripped the cart to stabilize it, but his wife's mother’s words cut deeper than any slap.

"You’re such a waste of oxygen. If you weren’t married to my daughter, you’d be in a ditch by now. Look at you, wearing cheap clothes, running errands like a slave. Disgraceful, I don't know how or what ever made you and her marry in the first place!"

"I already said I was sorry," Alfred muttered.

Linda spun on him. "You think a sorry fixes everything? You think I have time to clean up after a walking disaster? Those goods looks damn expensive! What if it turns out to be a big shot order?!"

The girl straightened, holding a crushed fruit basket and cracked expensive bottles drinks. She looked awkwardly between the two. “Uh… this order was for—”

"Hey! What’s going on here?"

A crisp voice came from the end of the aisle.

Elon Mu, wearing a tailored jacket and leather boots, strode toward them. His expression darkened as he saw the toppled goods, the employee, and then, Alfred.

He stopped in his tracks, blinking in disbelief as a smirk appears on his face.

"Alfred Lucas?" Elon let out a short laugh. "Why am I not surprised?"

Alfred stood straight and met his gaze. “Elon.”

Linda Su’s face lit up with recognition at the name. “Oh! Are you… Elon Mu?”

"That’s me, Auntie." Elon grinned and turned to the young woman. "I’ve been waiting by the customer service desk. What took you so long?"

"I—I’m sorry, sir. Someone crashed into the cart. I was—"

"No need to explain," Elon said, staring at Alfred with mock concern. "Some people don’t belong in public spaces."

"I didn’t crash into it on purpose," Alfred said, eyes narrowed in anger.

"Sure, sure," Elon said, smirking. He turned back to Linda. "Auntie, I’m shocked. Didn’t expect to run into you here."

Linda chuckled, instantly softening. "Well, I was just about to head back home after some shopping, but this fool here wasted my time again. Honestly, if Jennifer had married you, I’d sleep better at night with smiles on my face."

Elon’s eyes gleamed. “Still the same Jennifer Zhao?”

"Yes, my daughter. She was too blind to see your worth.”

"Mom!" Alfred finally snapped with anger on his face. “Don’t say things like that in front of him. I’m still her husband!”

“More like a slave with less value,” Elon muttered under his breath.

Linda ignored Alfred and leaned toward Elon. “Can you believe this? I gave him a simple shopping list and told him to be quick. Instead, he crashes into a store worker and ruins your VIP order.”

Elon burst out laughing while shaking his head. "Unbelievable. Alfred just can’t stop being an embarrassment.”

“Mom, I said I’d handle it. I’ll pay for any damage.” Alfred reached into his pocket. He had a few crumpled bills and some coins. It was pathetic.

Linda raised an eyebrow. “Pay for it? With what? Your pride? Get lost. This isn’t some roadside kiosk, it’s Elon’s order! Elon probably earns more in a day than you’ve touched in a year!”

"I will compensate you," Alfred muttered to the employee.

"Forget it,” Elon said with a fake smile. “It’s not about the money. It's about knowing your limits. Jennifer’s too good for this life,

and definitely too good for you who goes about embarrassing her.”

Linda turned to Elon and sighed dramatically. “Can you believe he still thinks he stands a chance? Sleeping on the sofa for a year like a stray dog, and still not letting go.”

“Mom!" Alfred called out in shame. No man will want his image tarnished outside even if it's true or false information being spread. Especially if the news concerns his masculinity.

Meanwhile the moment Elon heard those words, his eyes lit up as he instantly understood the meaning behind those words.

If Alfred haven't slept in same bed with Jennifer, then doesn't that means she is still a virgin?

It seems even the heaven's want him to be the one to take her first time.

Looking at Alfred who said nothing but, stared straight at Elon with his fist trembling.

Elons smirk and stepped closer, lowering his voice just enough for only Alfred to hear.

"Want a piece of advice, Lucas? Do yourself a favor. Let her go before she wakes up and throws you out of cuckold you. Trust me, you’re just dead weight in her entire life.”

Alfred’s jaw twitched, but he still didn’t lash out. “I don’t need advice from soemone like you.”

"Oh, and speaking of advice,” Elon added with a smirk, enjoying the race expression on Alfred, “a little bird told me some people from Benson Group are coming to town soon. Big project talks. Guess who they’re reaching out to first?”

He gave Alfred a patronizing pat on the shoulder.

“I’ll be the one signing deals while you’re still bagging groceries for your mother-in-law and your mother-in-law offering your wife to me without caring for your opinions.”

With that, Elon turned toward the counter and waved to the staff. “Get the replacement items ready. I’ll be waiting at the front. And everything bought by this gentle lady will be paid by me.”

Linda Su smirked and shook her head. “Now that’s a real man. Jennifer could’ve had that, but instead…”

She trailed off, shooting Alfred a look of disdain and pulled out her phone.

“Jennifer, that loser you married nearly ruined Elon’s entire order at the supermarket just now. He ran into the employee and made a scene. You’d better divorce him before he kills someone by accident.”

"Mom, what happened? Are you okay?"

"I’m fine, thanks to Elon. He was the one who stepped in and handled everything. He’s such a gentleman. I gave him your number. He deserves at least a thank-you dinner."

"Mom, how can you give out my number like that?!"

"Stop it. We ruined his order, and he still offered to pay mine and his and even offer to drive me home in his expensive car. That’s class. Show some gratitude."

“…Alright. I’ll talk to him.”

Linda hung up with a satisfied nod. She looked over at Alfred, who stood silently, fists clenched.

“Elon Mu is ten times the man you are,” she said coldly. “And soon, my daughter will see that too.”
