Once upon a time, Mattheo March was nothing more than a lowly son-in-law. A man cast out, mocked, and even deemed unworthy to sit at his wife’s family table. One day, his life crumbled completely when his sister, Elodi, fell on the brink of death. In desperation, Mattheo awakened an inheritance he didn’t even know still flowed through his veins—the legacy of the March Burglar family, a legendary line of healers who once stood at the pinnacle of the medical world, but vanished mysteriously. An unexpected encounter with Mark Spencer leads him down a path filled with secrets. The man, who claims to have a connection to the March Burgler family, provides Mattheo with all the information he needs and guides him, preparing him to become a great healer like his ancestors. However, before Mark could finish preparing him, his abilities accidentally saved a VIP patient and the recording was leaked, causing the world to start searching for the “mysterious healer.” Behind the public spotlight, Mattheo discovered a bitter truth—the destruction of his family was not fate, but the result of a conspiracy led by powerful figures in the medical world. From the shadows, he began to piece together a cold but unstoppable plan for revenge. He came to expose the betrayal that the March Burglar family had endured, leading to the disappearance of the healers in his family and the erasure of all traces of their existence. He came to seek revenge against those who, even to this day, despite not knowing that he was a descendant of the March Burgler family, still hated and disrupted his life, leading to the deaths of his parents. Mattheo swore to restore the name of March Burgler to its rightful place in the eyes of the world.

Chapter 1

Desperate measure

“I don't have that much money for you!” An elderly woman with a flat, cold expression firmly refused his request before Mattheo even had a chance to explain why he needed to borrow the money.

Mattheo clenched his fists tightly, his teeth gritting hard as he dropped to his knees. He put his pride aside and begged Emma, the head of the Murphy family. “I beg you. Elodi's condition has suddenly worsened, and she needs to pay her hospital bills immediately so she can undergo chemotherapy.”

Elodi was the only family Mattheo had left after their parents passed away three years ago, and since then, Elodi's condition had deteriorated. She had been diagnosed with leukaemia and was now in stage three.

“Then what does that have to do with me?” The woman looked at him coldly, her words showing that it was none of her business. “Your sister is your responsibility, not mine, so stop burdening me by coming to borrow money every time you need it.”

Matheo’s father was once the governor of the Rivermoon region. He had more than just a prestigious name and wealth. However, during his leadership, his name was dragged into a major corruption case, leading to legal charges because he couldn’t prove his innocence.

After spending two days in prison, his father was reported to have died of a heart attack. However, the truth was that he was murdered to keep him silent about the corruption case. Upon hearing the news of her husband’s death, his mother, who was already in a weakened state from the shock and disbelief over the corruption charges against her husband, suffered a heart attack and followed him in death.

“You and your family are a major problem, Mattheo!” the woman spat at him, her scowling face emphasising her contempt. “I made a huge mistake three years ago when I made a deal with you.”

Three years ago, Mattheo was forced to take immediate action regarding the fate of the company under his mother’s name, which was facing financial difficulties due to the drastic decline in its stock prices caused by the corruption case involving his father.

He was urged to sell it immediately, but he couldn't bring himself to do it, as it was the last thing he had left that belonged to his parents. Hearing about the situation, Emma offered to help in the form of marriage. She had wanted the March family company for a long time, and now she had her chance.

Mattheo agreed to the deal and married Jasmine Jean Murphy, who was his granddaughter. But the situation he thought would improve only got worse. As long as he was a son-in-law in the Murphy family, he couldn't hold his head up high because of their attitude, which always belittled him.

“You are completely useless. You keep coming to us like a leech, squeezing money out of us for your family's needs. Aren't you ashamed?!”

Mattheo bowed his head deeply.

It wasn't that he didn't work, but they didn't give him a chance. His mother's company, which was a joint venture between them, was now led by Jasmine because they accused him of being incompetent in handling company matters, so he stepped down.

In order not to feel like a parasite in that house, he did whatever they told him to do.

But to be treated like a leech? His anger boiled over.

His head bowed even lower as his fists clenched on his knees, squeezing the fabric of his pants. “Please lend me 1 million dollars. I'll give you all the power over the Murphy family's company afterwards.”

He had already discussed it with Jasmine, but she had told him to talk to Emma, who held the real power.

Emma snorted. She placed her glass arrogantly on the table. “What power are you talking about? The company has already been legally transferred to the Murphy family.”

Mattheo's eyes widened in surprise when he heard this. “No! I never signed any transfer documents.”

The smile on Emma's face looked satisfied as she saw the confusion on Mattheo's face. “You did, you signed it along with your marriage certificate.”

His face was struck by lightning, pale and incredulous. “You tricked me—”

“Don't make accusations, we got it legally. Don't think you can enter this family without giving anything in return, you must be crazy!” she sneered, then signalled to the two guards there to take Mattheo away.

“Now you'd better leave this place, you are no longer of worth to us!”

The two guards dragged him away, even though Mattheo tried to fight back, but their muscular and large bodies made him no match for them.

“Let me go! You can't do this to me!” Mattheo roared in protest. He tried to jump out of their grasp but was quickly caught. “Ma'am, I beg you, at least give me money for my sister's treatment, I need it.”

His voice fell on deaf ears, and his body was thrown out of the gate. Mattheo sat helplessly on the floor. Theo roared, trying to beg again. But the ringing of his phone stopped him.

“Is this Elodi's guardian? We would like to inform you that the patient's condition has entered a critical stage. Elodi is having seizures and must be taken to the treatment room immediately. We ask that you come immediately and take care of the payment, sir.”

He tried to calm himself and replied,

“Okay, I'll be right there! Please do everything you can!” Theo ran out of there, running recklessly, ignoring his body as it bumped into people.

At that moment, his heart felt like it was being squeezed when he saw his sister's body convulsing uncontrollably, held by several medical personnel who were trying to treat her.

Theo couldn't bear to look, his legs unable to move forward. He was filled with fear and guilt.

“Sir, you need to sign the documents and pay the deposit immediately.” A doctor approached him.

Theo turned to look at the man. Then he reached out and grabbed his hand tightly. “Please save my sister first, I'll do anything. I'll pay later, I don't have the money right now.” He bowed his head deeply in front of the man.

The doctor who approached him released Theo's hand. “I'm sorry, sir, but you have to follow the procedure. We can't take any action if you don't.”

“Then you're just going to let my sister die?!” He shouted in pain, stunned by the attitude of the hospital that was supposed to save his sister.

The doctor looked at Theo seriously, glanced around to make sure no one was watching, then approached Theo. “If you need money quickly, there is a way to do it, sir.”

Theo’s eyes widened, and he stared at the doctor seriously. “I’ll do it. Tell me how.”
